Admin Interface¶
This section describes how to enable AkasicDB features, update internal components, and manage user accounts through the admin interface.
Enable AkasicDB¶
After starting the PostgreSQL server, connect using an account with administrative privileges to enable AkasicDB. This process only needs to be performed once per PostgreSQL database.
-- Enable the AkasicDB extension
CREATE EXTENSION IF NOT EXISTS akasicdb;
-- Initialize graph and vector modules of AkasicDB
SELECT akasicdb_admin.initialize();
Update AkasicDB¶
When updating AkasicDB, use akasicdb_admin.update() to update internal components to match the installed AkasicDB release. For releases that provide this function, ALTER EXTENSION akasicdb UPDATE applies the function definition for that release. The function is also included in fresh installations.
Only accounts with administrative privileges can run the function. If components are already at their target versions, it performs the required state checks and succeeds without making changes.
To update AkasicDB, replace the distribution, restart the server, and update the extensions in each database, in that order. For the full procedure and SQL commands, see Updating AkasicDB.
Manage Regular User Accounts¶
As in PostgreSQL, you can add user accounts in AkasicDB using the CREATE ROLE statement. Newly added user accounts are automatically granted the permissions required to use AkasicDB features.
User account management requires superuser privileges.
-- Create a user account named "user" with the login password user_password
CREATE ROLE "user" WITH LOGIN PASSWORD 'user_password';
You can also delete unused accounts using the DROP ROLE statement.
